How OpenYouth works

OpenYouth is a directory of learnerships, internships, bursaries, apprenticeships and other youth programmes in South Africa. It is an Opengro initiative. The name and wordmark on this site are OpenYouth's.

We are not the employer. A listing describes an opportunity and, when we have it, links to the official apply page. You do not need an account to browse or to follow that link. We do not charge a fee.

Sources and verification

Each published listing carries a verification status. Official source and Partner source mean someone checked it against that kind of source. Not verified yet means that check is not recorded. Flagged means we are not showing the apply link. A badge is never added to every card by default.

Closing dates are part of the listing. When a date is missing and the intake is rolling, the card says rolling. When a date is missing and it is not rolling, the card says the closing date is not listed. We do not guess.

If anyone asks you for money, an ID photo on WhatsApp, or a processing fee, stop. OpenYouth will never charge you to apply.

Privacy and POPIA

The public pages do not ask you to create an account, and they do not collect a profile. Choosing a filter only changes the address of the page so you can share it. The apply button opens the provider's site in a new tab. That site has its own privacy rules, and the visit uses your data.

Accounts, saves and reminders are not switched on yet. When they are, they will come with a privacy notice, a way to export or delete your information, and a named Information Officer. They will not sit in front of an apply link.
